This week I attended a very important meeting with some of the students from Yoga Warriors class. During the meeting each student spoke about what Yoga Warriors means to them and how it has impacted their life in some way!! I was smiling from ear to ear because it was during this meeting I realized these three students have evolved into a Yogies in every way!! Perhaps our Yoga Warriors classes on Wednesday evenings is not a “traditional” yoga class with flowery words or chanting, but each student has contributed to this “safe” place of peace for one hour out of the week!! At times the language is very direct and not very “Yogic” like but than again…this is yoga! At the meeting we attended it was mentioned that every First Responder at some point in their career has carried some level of Post Traumatic Stress with them, and that is what makes us human!! It would be un-natural not to be effected by traumatic events or situations that we cannot control. It is the way that we choose to deal with them that is the key. So this all leads back to these three Yoga Warriors students for choosing Yoga Warriors as an outlet in their high stress careers. One of the students who is a Police Officer and actually quite skeptical of Yoga Warriors in beginning, really shined talking about how good YW would be for his fellow Officers. This is the kind of support system that has evolved from a little class on Wednesday evenings…it has become our “safe zone” for one hour out of the week!!!

Recently in an email Lucy the founder of Yoga Warriors asked when am I coming back to visit and when are we going to be neighbours?? Instantly the stone church near Lucy’s studio popped into my head. I have mentioned this church before in previous blogs, maybe it is time that I return to West Boylston soon for a visit??
